Welcome to DaveSpace

Welcome to DaveSpace.org.uk, this site is the result of merging all of my other domains into one WikieMedia based website. Hopefully the fact that I’ve been bitten by the Wiki bug will mean that content on this site will finally be updated more than once per century and I intend to use this site as a gateway to all my other internet profiles and services including my Blog, Gallery and other social tools.

This site has also become a dumping ground for various bits of information that I find myself either looking up frequently, such as recipes, or wanting to store for nostalgic purposes i.e. gamer related information.

Coding

At present I work in South London for a company called Mortgage Brain Limited as a Software Developer. As the name would suggest we write mortgage software where I've primarily worked on a product called Mortgage Trading Exchange or MTE for short. Recently I've become a part of the team responsible for re-factoring the Broker product into Visual Basic.Net using LINQ and WCF.

In my spare time I'm also teaching myself C#, VB 2008 and playing around with Ubuntu.

Computer Gaming

In the past, I obsessively played a game called Eve Online. My character name is Hygelac and in my time I flew for both Sharks with Frickin' Laser Beams [FRICK] and Body Count Inc. [BDCI], both founding corps of the Mercenary Coalition. I've also flown for Millennium [MLM].

These days, I don't really have the time to play Eve as much and I was inactive for almost a year, with a few month's worth of training lost. I still plan to poke my head into the game one or two nights a week, but I don't really want to go back to the level of obsession that I once 'enjoyed'!

I also play other games on occasion, but Eve is predominantly my game of choice.

I have to say that I prefer slower paced games with more a lot of depth and scope to play around and develop strategies, which is probably why I've enjoyed Eve so much. I don't really enjoy first person shooter style games and sadly the half-life engine seems to give me motion sickness no matter what settings I use, which is strange because I'm never car-sick or sea sick! Ho hum. In spite of this I own an Xbox360 and whilst 80% of the games are not to my taste, I've managed to find a few that I enjoy, my gamer Id is : Fluffydave.
