So what's this Wiki stuff about then?

For those who are thinking 'wtf is this all about', let me give a quick overview of what wiki is:

Wiki is a website concept which is a cross between a normal website and a forum. The idea is that every page up there is editable by everyone else. It's the concept underwhich wikipedia is ran, in fact it's the same engine. The goal here is content over style. You can quickly add as much data as you like, with no coding/html knowledge. You think there should be an article up there about something? Fine, add one in. I spelt your name wrong? No problem edit it It's that simple.

Help on Creating and Maintaining this Wiki

Here follows some useful information in regards to using this Wiki

Editing using Wikitext

Because Wiki doesn't require any html knowledge they use their own formatting to do things like bold text. It's just like using [b] when you're on the forums, just a different set of commands. As ever you can do it simple or complicated.

This version of Wiki has some helper buttons on it to help make things bold or underlined etc, so basic formatting is easy. But, I've dumped a couple of pages up there as examples of the sort of stuff we can do and some formatting examples. Things to keep an eye out for are the 'Edit' and 'Article' tabs across the top of the page, they'll allow you to control the content.

Adding a New Page

There are a number of ways to add a new page to the Wiki, you can either search for a non-existant page, or simply create a broken link:

  • Type the name of the page you want to create in the search box, say BDCI Diplomatic Relations
  • Press the 'Go' button
  • Click on the 'create this page' link

Or, to create a broken link

  • Edit a page
  • Where you want a link to the new page type [[My New Page]]
  • Save the page
  • Click on the broken link and you're presented with an edit dialogue for a page called 'My New Page'.

The Republic University was founded by Minmatar emigrates as a show of support for the fledgling republic shortly after its inception. The school is modeled after the University of Caille and based on the Gallentean education system. The SCC Advisory Council yesterday approved a variety of new sales commodities for general release on SCC-regulated interstellar markets. Notable among them are such items as long-anticipated learning skill packs from the Society of Conscious Thought, material which will give advanced students the possibility of, as a SOCT press release puts it, "taking their potential to the stars and beyond." The University of Caille and the Republic University yesterday also released the fruits of what has been their joint project over the last three months: the first batch of preparatory learning materials for the upcoming changes to be made to SCC interstellar markets in the coming months.
