ZLZ-1Z : a battle report.

On tuesday the 7th, a mid sized TCF fleet went on roaming (50-60 ships) around Godfelas space. We were 20 jumps away from our base of operations when intel was given about a 100ish Triumvirate Fleet undertaking hostile operations in our newly conquered station in ZLZ.

The 55 BS in Triumvirate fleet seized the station ownership (as sovereignty hadn't yet kicked in despite Towers) while hostile support held 6Y gate with a large bubble. Order was given to rush Q-T to assert the situation and what could be done as orders this nightwere to chill out.

Leadership decided to assemble Capital fleet with available pilots. At this point, Intel was given that part of Trium fleet had left the system, soon followed by visual sightings of Triumvirate Capitals undocking in TVN. With 15 Dreads and 10ish carriers, we had an equal number of capitals to oppose the Triumvirate pilots. We waited a little more for intel and gathering more capital pilots.

Trium Cap Fleet was soon sighted jumping in TVN and ... docking in station. We also saw a small caldari tower anchored on a moon but not onlined. We wondered at this point if they wanted to evacuate assets, get their capa back up or lure us into engaging them.

Anyway, we decided to jump in our roughly 40 caps and small support fleet near our tower. Then began a cat and mouse game with Trium BS / support fleet, our dictors and our capfleet with good results on our side. After taking back the station and chilling with our caps in free space, we decided to engage the tower even though the trap seemed pretty obvious with two cloaked BoB in local

Right after our dreads entered siege mod, Trium fleet warped in snipe of our fleet and dictors rushed our caps without much success in the first minutes. At the same time, a neutral falcon uncloacked, rushed us as far a he could before popping a cyno. It was shot in 30 seconds but a handful of hostile and neutral caps had managed to jump in.

Primaries were given and the first hostile dreads began dropping like flies. A hostile carrier popped a new cyno, then another one and overview filled up with hostile carriers and dreads.

Fighting ensued.

Our support was of'course totally outnumbered as a massive hostile fleet was up to gank us. Despite being heavily outnumbered, dreads, being primaried, fell quite fast ... till numbers caught back with us.

A massive fleet of support and more importantly, dictors, kept pinning our caps in place with no hope of survival. So we fought till the end, till primaries would'nt fall anymore, until our dreads fell out of Strontium.

When situation was already desperate, a Goon fleet, happening to pass nearby, joined our Salute in the fight like Brosefs.

Whatever loudmouths may say, numbers will speak for themselves here :

  • 130 friendlies Vs 325 Hostiles.
  • 40 TCF Caps Vs 115 hostile caps.
  • We lost 3 carriers.
  • We killed 17 Dreadnaught, lost 24.
  • A shitload of fighters destroyed.

To conclude, we knew we were taking a risk while engaging, alone, our improvised cap fleet. We took some fun, brought it to the field and showed people who don't dare to risk a Cap fleet outside a cynojammed system how this game is played.

The first dead dreadnought went down at 22:43, the last carrier died at 00:25. Lag was minimal except at the very end. It was a blast.
