The plan…

A simple trap, a choice piece of bait, and a quarry that had shown their cards before. Oh Rly?

Yesterday, a plan was hatched to deal a blow to the Outbreak Corporation; these villainous vagabonds had been raping and pillaging in the curse region for a while, and patience was wearing thin.

The plan was simple, and perfect, yet also massively flawed from the outset, the crossing of the t’s and dotting of the i’s were to be our undoing.

The original plan was to bait Outbreak, not a hard thing to do as Outbreak like biting, but our timing was a bit off. The target system was Litom, where Tyrrax would run around screaming like a schoolgirl until he was tackled. Upon sufficient force being applied to his Archon, he would drop a cyno, and we would land and assist in the destruction of tackling forces. Add to this that both IAC and KIA had support fleets in close proximity; we felt we had ensured victory.

How wrong we were…

15:18

Outbreak refused to be drawn into any confrontation in Litom, and Tyrrax jumped into Utopia to ‘poke the hornet’s nest’ and poke it he did, very well.

At the Utopia to Litom jumpgate, we got word that Tyrrax had been tackled (15:18), and that his support was under fire, ; for a while he tussled with the smaller locals…then…we got reports that two Thanatos class carriers, and much to our surprise, two dreadnoughts being a Phoenix and a Moros had undocked.

We waited, we knew that unseiged dreads would be able to escape, and we wanted them trapped. “Phoenix in Siege, CYNO UP”

15:38

15:38 We jumped….we waited…and waited, then the screen loaded up. I see more than 4 enemy caps on my screen….wtf???

Outbreak were onto us, not us, but the idea that someone would be up for taking on their capital fleet. Hindsight teaches us not to run around our enemy’s back yard shouting “here I am, come get me”

We were outgunned, and in the opening seconds, very much outnumbered. Our screens were filled with 4 digit sig radiuses, and this was only the caps. Outbreak were on the case.

The gates went, and local was filling up, the support had arrived…..

IAC had pledged a fleet of smaller ships to the fray, mainly for tackling duties from the north. KIA had a fleet of battleship which were heading in from the south, but had been held in dock until the last possible moment.

The next hour deserves its own thread, but I am sure others will be able to add to what I saw.

The main capital arena was on the gate, or very close to it, and the sheer amount of drones and fighters made any form of normal flight impossible. KIA/IAC carriers were able to deploy fighters and start attacking an Outbreak Thanatos. His shields went fast, but then we hit the wall that was his armour, it just was not going down.

The Outbreak support turned up. A group of sniper battleships warped in at approx 180-200km and started on our fighters. Necro saw his fighters drop 8…7..6..5..4..3..2..1, deployed more…8..7..then he started taking dread fire. This was not the plan.

KIA support turned up, but they were setup for close range, and did not have a firing solution for the sniping fleet. Ships who tried to approach the enemy snipers were quickly dispatched. We needed another angle.

Eddz decided that his carrier was not doing enough to warrant his involvement in the capital side of things, and took his Chimera to a station where he was able to unload his Vagabond and go back with the support fleet.

From this side of things, we started to make headway. Eddz was able to pinpoint the enemy snipers and direct our support onto their locations. On this front, our close range fleets were able to deal a crushing blow to the Outbreak non-cap fleets…

Down below though, at the gate, the story was very different….

The Outbreak Capital fleet was overwhelming, and our combined capital fleets were no match. 16:07 the first IAC Thanatos fell, we were on the back foot.

16:17

16:17 And an IAC Naglfar succumbs to the Outbreak Dreads, the space is alive with fighters…

16:23

16:23 and an Outbreak Moros falls to the KIA/IAC fleet, but this was only a short lived break, cap numbers on both sides had been growing, but ours were still outnumbered at least 2:1. IAC drops in more Dreads and carriers, another IAC Carrier falls, this time an Archon.

16:32

16:32 and IAC lose a Revelation; the capital balance is leaning more and more towards the Outbreak gang. Even though the support fight is still being raged above, we are losing this fight…

16:36

16:36 and another IAC carrier falls, this time a Chimera. All our efforts to save ships were thwarted by repeated system messages “The ship is not in range of your remote armour/shield reps” Damn it!!! 3 times we had ships sat alongside us only to have our nav systems decide it was not close enough. (Only gripe btw).

By now, our capital ships were fighting to survive, some additional IAC capitals had been drafted in, but it was too late, this fight was done…

Remaining allied capital ships were getting out; Tyrrax’s Archon remained in the fight throughout, and received over 9 million damage. Every time a pilot called out, he was there providing support.

By now, the support fight was over, KIA and IAC had taken out most of the Outbreak support, and for a short time were able to pikey their way around the field of play, but this was Outbreak Country and we were soon ordered to vacate before further allied losses were encountered. The last scuffles took place at approx 17:00hrs eve time.

For me, this was the largest and most involving encounter I have ever been privileged to be part of. My respect for Outbreak AND IAC has increased ten fold.

For KIA, we are going to look at today as a pre-cursor to this contract. Outbreak brought it, and we want to bring it back…and then some…

KIA out…for now.
